Dr. Henson attended the University of Georgia and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Emory University School of Dentistry. He served in the United States Navy Dental Core after graduation for two years.

Dr. Henson was president of the Clarke County Dental Society for two terms. He also served two terms on the Eastern District Dental Society.

He served five years on the Georgia Board of Dental Examiners.
